Can't apply English Planetarian correctly

Today I bought Planetarian (actually I did it twice by accident), downloaded it, finally installed it (had a lot of trouble with that because they've changed the purchasing/installation/launching process, and btw it costs 300 yen more now) - had to make the "BuddySetup306.exe" compatible with Windows 2000 - then applied the English patch made by insani/haeleth and.. It didn't work.

The Japanese version, w/o the patch, works. I can start the game, begin it, the logo appears, the music starts to play, etc.

The English version starts. The main menu is in English now and there's an extra button "load game", however there are no saved games. I press "start game", a chime rings, and.. This is it. There are two points on the screen, like that: "..", there's an inactive menu below, I can right-click and call the right-click menu, but whatever I do, I can't get past this screen.

What should I do to fix that??
