So, i'm new to this board and i want to start by sayin, hi, whats up? how're y'all doin? also, is it safe to give up all hope of there ever being an english translation of air? why has everyone dropped it like a hot potatoe? i know this seems stupid, but while im old hat to the dating sim genre, having been playing for a few years now, i am new to the fan translations, and have no clue as to what's going on with them. also does anyone know of any sites, offering the game? i've got the dc version already, but my dc was broken some time ago, when i moved(idiot siblings, dont know how to handle fragile things)and i found something called "air rpg" which i think is a doujin game, i got it at fanimecon2005, but i havent had the chance to play it yet(too much other stuff to deal with)

Welcome to the board. From what my friend has told me AIR uses a lot of difficult Kanji at parts of the game that aren't necessarily used alot in modern Japanese so it's a bit difficult at times. (kanji is beyond me at this point so I am not sure about this)
As far as getting the game... http://www.himeya.com currently has a few different versions of it.
Don't hold your breath, but Aoyama of Hirameki International says he wants to translate AIR.
AIR RPG is just a doujin game someone made using RPG Maker I think.

thanks! and Aoyama wants to translate it? is this something that'll be done professionally (as in being released to buy, in english) or just as a fun project? also- thank you for your responces!^_^
Hirameki International is a professional game localisation company that just released an official translation of Ever17 in the US. The company blog has recently been updated with an entry about the company which mentions, in passing, at the end, that it might be a nice idea if one day they might possibly be able to license AIR.
(I think we all agree, but like rodan says, don't hold your breath.)

If you want a good overview of what has been/is being translated, check out Shii's site: http://www.shii.org/translate/

The first response you evoked from me was "WHEN WAS THIS?!" and I quickly logged on to Anime Damashii. Ahaha, I'm so late on this news...
Oh, and DocDestiny -- if it weren't for me contemplating picking up that same game at that same con, you wouldn't have had it now. XD
See you at Fanime '06.
