i mean no dating sims, but "normal" pc games.
from cyborg alberto..i can tell he is a total anihilation fan :)
ii am a very big quake fan. i've played all quake's since quake2. currently i am playing quake3 rocket arena 3 ...nick: gao,gao...stegosaurus" or "uguuu" :)
i just read a "review" of quake4, which i hoped to be as good as q3 but i am total depressed now :)

i mean...is this thing with...q4 is like MMRPG true? if yes then they can forget me. i mean shooters have to be about skill and how good reflexes somebody have and not about gametime/characterlevel
that 70% pc games review dosn't shocked me, because they only review the single player game. i am total multiplayer gamer.
i doen't play often, but i am not that bad. (since i've played very often 3 years ago.)
i hope a question like this is allowed in this forum. if not, fell free to eraise this topic :)

As extremely off-topic as this is I'll still bite.
I mostly play old RPGs (Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Warrior, etc.) and adventure games (Gabriel Knight, Clock Tower, etc.). I don't usually play newer games (defined as anything published within the past five years) with the exception being at parties where I usually play Super Smash Bros. Melee. I also occasionally pick up a new RPG (Tales of Symphonia for example).
My reason for not playing newer games is not because of any sort of elitism towards old generation games but beacuse I have a large backlog of PS1 RPGs lying in a chest under my bed that I have yet to beat.
I am currently playing a lot of SaGa Frontier and Clock Tower on my PS1 and I recently finished Sword of Mana and Gabriel Knight:SotF for the GBA and PC.
Note: This post was written with me functioning on 3 hours of sleep. Please forgive any grevious spelling or punctuation errors.
I'm pretty sure that Q4 review was meant to be a joke.
As for me... currently playing not a lot. I've been replaying Thief 3 in my copious spare time, but I'm up to the Cradle again, and I'm really not sure I can go through that level a second time. Scariest experience in a game ever. I also have a Touhou spree every now and again. Some day I'll beat one of those games on something other than "easy", honest...

Well, which kind of games do you think my system can play?

AMD Duron 950 megahertz
128 of RAM, 16 shared for the ON-board AGP video T_T
40 Gigahertz HD+2.67 Gighertz HD
CD-RW burner (My CD-ROM unit is almost useless! T_T)
Nothin' about recent games for me. T_T
But I have about 30 PC games + 9 Playstation games (Using emulators: Bleem, ePSXe and VGS).

In the truth, I don't like much (It isn't mean "I hate") of Strategy games, although I have 4 of them: TA (and, Recenty, your expansions: Battle Tatics and Core Contingency - I've gotten wth a friend, the rest you'll imagine :P), Age of Mithology, Warcraft 3 and Desperados (Kick-@55 games!)
I prefer the First/Third Person Shooters, like Hitman - Codename 47 (Oh man it's a very HARD game!) KingPin - Live of Crimes, SWAT 3 (this game RULES!) and Unreal Tournament (Do you like Quake 3 mr.aufziehvogel? so, you MUST play UT! for me, UT is better than Q3. I've played Q3 with a friend, but I didn't like of this game. I prefer the UT. - Oh yes! I don't wanna cause problems with this, ok?)
Also, I love fighting games, but I don't know anyone god for PC, only for PS :)
But at the moment, I'm playin' only the PC games, because my CD-R player unit isn't good, and I don't wanna use my precious CD-RW burner for plaiyn' games who MUST have the CD in the CD-R/RW unit.
(Now, you'll see a dark side of my methods to make this. If you don't like about "use alternative ways to get a "good" efect", please, don't read this.)
Also, because of this, I make use of (Please Haeleth, don't edit or remove this! and please, don't think who I sell Illegal-backup CDs! I don't make this! I don't make this! T_T) cracks for almost all my games
[Except Total Annihilation - Bad crack effect: no music and NO CGs -, Kanon - _inmm.dll+CD music in the HD = Kanon without CD - and Worms 2 - I didn't find a good crack T_T - and other games who DON'T need them, like Driver, UT, MDK2, Fallout 2 and others I don't remember. Thanks for the "Full absolute HUGE install" option. :)]
Only for remember: Cracks are illegal methods for make the games (and several types of softwares) works breaking the Producer Copyrights. I don't use software cracks (Except for the games. I have a safe place to get it, but I don't (and I won't) say WHERE), don't make such thing! don't be a idiot! You'll find good viruses if you'll try search software cracks - If you want a proof, ask to me, I'm a "living proof" (I mean: "someone who lived the bad experience") of ALL I say here!! - even game cracks could contain virus! pay attention!

well, I've never played this game, But the UT has a MOD which brings some of the Trief's game for the UT, the Trievery UT. U can find this MOD for FREE download here! About 200 megabytes of size, though... (http://unreal.pl/dzial.php?dz=download&id=mody) (Haeleth, this mod isn't a "ca$h" mod. You, really, don't need pay anything for get it. it's, really, FREE, ok? But, I think that the game is better than this mod, a very-hard dificulty mod - Yep, I have the mod, not the game. T_T - and sorry for my huge post... again...)
In recent months I have tried Cave Story, Nethack, and Final Fantasy 7 and 9, but I never seem to win-- I just keep on dying. I want to play an RPG where you're immortal :(
I also had a one-month free trial of that 3D MMORPG where you pilot a ship around in space and trade goods, and that was fun but I didn't want to pay $10 a month for an addiction.
So, it's just visual novels for me.

I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on my NintendoDS, and Myst III: Exile on PC.
Dynatasy Warriors 5 is all i've been playing lately. Occasionally Airrade Air/Smash Bros Melee gets a turn and very rarely i'll go back and play Worms 2, Civilization II Multiplayer Gold (waiting to see if I can use IV on this PC ^^), Halo and Conquer OnLine 2.0.
Had you asked this a year ago, I would've listed all my RPGS for you right here. Everything from FF to Suikoden and back.
Now though, I'm afraid my time limits me to my Meltyblood and Touhou spurts. (curse you Haeleth! I can't even beat it on easy yet!)
that and the occasional DDR or if my friend visits, Guilty Gear match.

I have this game, but the PS emulators doesn't run it perfectly! Always I get fails! T_T
and Yes, I like RPGs. But I've only 3: Parasite Eve (PS), Septerra Core and Fallout 2 (Both are PC games. Fallout 2 is old but RULES!)
and NO... I don't play in multiplayer chalenges...
with a 56k modem... no way guys, no way...

@cyborg alberto: i have already tried unreal tournament. and ut 2004 (or 2003 dunno the name).
i hate it :) its not a bad game, but it's all about with wich shooter you start with. most counterstrike users like ut too. but we quakers are a little crazy :)
i started shooter with q2 and changed to q3. tried cs and ut too, butif you are really into a game (like quake) then it's not even funny playing a shooter like ut or cs.
because: i dont want to begin a flame war but it's my personal opinion. maybe this wouln't be so, if i started shooter with cs/ut.
1) quake3 and all quake games are Xtremle tweakable. you can change everything.
your pc is not so much slower than mine...my specs are:
AMD athlon 1ghz, geforce 4mx 400, 640mbyte sd ram
its cool, because you can tweak q3 so, that you can play it with every pc. my quake3 looks like ..quake1 :) i set blood off, i set textures off, i bound my fps to 125 etc.
2) i love quake, because there are not 20 weapon modes. i think 1 is enough.
3) i love quake because of the PHYSICS. i mean, have you ever played quakeworld? try rocketjumping. after a while with quake you can't play another shooter, because in quake, the physics are so cool. you can jump super wide, make trickjumps, and the game is super fast.
i have tried ut/cs but they both are slow compared to quake (all quakes) just try quake2 ctf with the hooks. THAT is (stressful) fun :)
like i said, rocket arena 3 is the only shooter for me. i usually play it once a week. (okok, 1-2 times a week)
i hope they didn't make q4 too slow.
hmmm...yeah . i like playing adventures like monkey island 1-4, LOOM and indiana jones 4 per ScummVM. i like adventures. my first pc game was monkey island on amiga 500 ;)
and today... hey, the only games i buy are rpgs, adventures and 2 shooters (quake2 and quake3) the next games i am waiting for are: the city of metronome (adventure) and the longest journey2 (adventure .)
i guess i like visual novels/dating sims so much, because they combine the advantage of an adventure game with an extra heartful story :)
i hope this isn't too long ....

Not that I've had much times for gaming lately, but the things that have gotten recent play are:
Mushihimesama on PS2
Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow on Nintendo DS
Night Raid on PSX
Riviera: The Promised Land on GBA (DS)
Plus the occasional PC sessions of Cave Story, Doom (running on the new Legacy engine), and the demo of Perfect Cherry Blossom, which always leaves me wondering why I've not bought the full version yet.

Man, UT2k3/2k4 doesn't the same thing as UT.
I've played Ut 2k4, but I prefer the 1st UT. It's better to me.
Also, you can find some little mutators who can bring (I say BRING) a part of the Q3 universe to UT, like the Silver Angel Model. It's with the Psi Weapons Dream mutator. - But, the Original Q3 silver Angel model is very better. :)
In the truth, I prefer the UT because UT has very gametypes, and Q3 has ONE style: deathmach, right?
UT has DM, Last Man Standin', Domination, Capture the Flag and the Kick-ass - for me of couse - Assault.
But I don't hate the Q3 my friend. I like frag several times bunches of enemies. Man a deathmach is very fun! ^^
however, only exists few ways to get this game now:
1.Buy a Illegal-backup copy (No more legal copies to sell here in Brazil, at least in my state.)
2.Make a copy of the Q3 CD of someone.
3.Ask to my friends if someone of them could get the game for me using (U can forget. I don't tell ya what they use for this.)

lately i've been playing NFSU2 again, mainly because my uni friends have been playing it over the uni network. although we are supposed to do project work, can't help it when you have a bunch of laptops hooked up to the uni network. also a bit of Quake 3 Arena.

@cyborg: the original quake3 has: 1on1, team deathmatch, capture the flag.
however, these types are normally not played by the gamers today.
you have to install OSP to get real fun :) (and physics)
and rocket arena3 (just google)
the original quake3 physics are not so good, but with osp or in rocket arena3 they are really good.
which internet connection did you have?
i only play online. i think offline shooters are boring.
and about q3 running on your pc...depends on what onboard graphic do you have. i mean, you can play ut? maybe you can play q3 at 640x480 with all details off.
i play it with 1024x768 16bit mode all details off and textures/blood etc. off. and i get 60 (in bigger maps) to 125 fps.
when i started quake2 with a few friends from school ( when i was 17, and i am now 22)
i was a really hardcore player :) i mean we played like professionals..made a clan..and do trainings 2-3times a WEEK!!! :)
i remember one time, when a freind called me at 2am. he said i should come because we have a clanwar against some swedish quakers :) (we all played at my friends apartment. we had 4 pcs, 1 router and one 300kbit/sek cable connection. so the 4th man had so high ping that it was ..unplayable :P man that was fun :) we played mostly q2 ctf. (the incredible fast one with hooks etc.)
and then came quake3. at the beginning we played in a clan, made ctf clan, then wqe changed to rocket arena3. but after some time (3 years ago) we stopped playing because of school, work etc. and now, we play just for fun. 1-2 times a week. no clan, no trainings no geekness :)

I have a 16 memory On-board Video Card.
A SiS 630/730 model, using the 2.08c Driver - The newest, at least... to today :)
But I have only 112 Ram, ok?
Well, I got play UT using:
-640X480 res (Too good to me. A human eye doesn't notice the "point difference" above this resolution.)
- World detail: medium
- Skin detail: medium
- Dynamic lightning and details: on by default
- Audio: Hi quality
- Enhanced AI in the pratice mode: Off
- Number of bots: No more than 10 or 12, depending of the map. Assault levels NO more than 10, because they're HUGE and HEAVY. Small deathmatch levels about 5 or more. Mainly, when I'm playin' in the DM-EnemyAtTheGates. man this map is a Kick-ass deathmatch (Sometimes the arena is attacked by warheads!) Why Q3 doesn't have a map like this?
- FPS: maybe 30fps... I don't use any counter for the FPS. For me:
- Is it playable, even with low grafics?
- Yes!
- Is it VERY ugly using low grafics?
- Ugly? You're jokin' right?
- Oh man, I'll get it! That's mine now! :)
Except some HUGE fan assault levels, I got play UT with very very few slowdowns (More sound problems, but nothing of "Oh my! my PC will stpo once of all!" :P), even using custom models and weapons. And, using all the default UT items, the game runs very good, in almost all levels.
(But I'm using this confguration in ALL time in the game.)
and, about multiplayer...
with a 56k modem? no way...

and about Rocket Arena:
The mode is, roughly, "You must kill your oponnent in a round; in the next, kill him but makin' better than your previous round", right?
UT has this mod, but I didn't like it... I prefer Assault and Deathmach levels.

Touhou, FreeCell, CrimsonLand, Metal Slug Advance, Super Mairsa Land, And a lot of Free Flash Games. Also the low-tech MMORPGs Kingdom of Loathing and Urban Dead.
A little C&C Generals to round out the boredom. I'm also downloading the free demos of Serious Sam 2 and Age of Empires 3 to see if my computer will seize up and die by just starting the game. (Bad experience with BF2...don't ask.)
Normal PC games? What's that? <_<;
Actually, the last normal game I played was probably BF1942.
If it's just down to PC games, my palate's pretty much limited to Bioware's AD&D-based titles and the Star Wars FPS games. Console-wise, I used to be a bit of an RPG maniac in the golden years of the SNES, although I can't say I've so much as touched a console in the last 6 months or so.

@astcd2: i was collectiing the whole ad&d games like baldurs gate...but i never played it, because they take sooo much time. and i dunno, i am getting bored. these games are so slow with story etc.
i never really liked western style rpg's because they take so long to make a char etc.
i was a really japan rpg fan myself. chrono trigger on snes, final fantasy, etc :)
even today i buy games like golden sun 1-2 (which are really good rpgs).
even bought nintendo ds and sony psp for rpgs and games like another code and lost in blue.
that may sound like i am a real geek. but i don't play that much. i collect the games, play them 1-2 times and then...when i have time (3 months-1 year later :) ...i play them to the end. so i am a rpg collector :)
i still have unfinished games (only started them once) gamecube: baten kaitos, tales of symphonia ps2: wild arms 3, star ocean 3, final fantasy x+x-2)

... But the College PCs uses Broadband connection. And the 1st HUGE signature has been made there. :)
However, The Forum opens in... eh... 1 minute (20 secounds is a wrong information... It's very fast for a 56K modem! :P) in the max.

Alias, the LAST HUGE HUMONGOUS signature has been made 1 or 2 hours ago. and I'm downloadin' a thing. I'm lucky :P
and NO, I don't set pics off. The IE config is Almost completly "by default" - except the option to check for IE new versions...

Been playing the Translated Ys Eternal pc port.
Adol is so godly in Ys1. Just run into things and they die...
I generally don't play computer/video games. Sure, I enjoy an occasional game of Tetris, or a few songs in Stepmania now and then, but most of the games out there don't really interest me.
The few exceptions are my interests in the Myst series, and obviously, as evidenced by my presence here, visual novels/ren'ai stuff. I'm guessing that that combination of interests makes me a rather odd "gamer" indeed.

In any case, been playing a lot of danmaku shooters recently. After 1cc-ing Ikaruga and deciding I can't beat my score because I suck, I've been playing a lot of Touhou, with Samidare mixed in at one point (but damn, that Extra stage is IMPOSSIBLE).
Speaking of which, Haeleth, ever managed to get anywhere on PCB Extra stage? I'm getting nailed far too often by Ran's second-to-last card... the 8th? 9th? Don't remember...

IN's Extra Stage is (by the popular token) harder than PCB's, although I actually get to the last card more consistently than on PCB. Haven't beaten either yet though >_<;;

You could always download and watch some of the demos. They're quite useful, even if duplicating the amazing tricks expert players use oneself can be... uh... tricky.
I attempted "The Great Rotation" several times and failed on every try. Nets you ridiculous points with no shortage of pain.

and i still can't beat AIRRADE on easy....

Yep. I'm the worst gamer of the century. No one can defeat me in this fact! :P
[because I have about 30 PC games, but I've finished ONLY 2: Unreal Tournament and... eh... oh man... Oh yeh! MDK 2 (Both in easy level: UT using "Loaded" and "God" when the Xan was killin'me at any time; MDK2 using GodMode and LevelSelect T_T No chance to finish the anothers, mainly Hitman (Oh man, it's a HARD, very HARD game! T_T), SWAT 3 (Random AIs every time... cool thing however ^ ^), KingPin (Oh man this game F... a lot my brain and my "body guards"! T_T), Warcraft 3 (I've lost the saved game! T_T) and Age of Mithology (I'm STILL in the 3rd stage! T_T), Fallout 2 (I lose the savegame every time I format my PC! S...! - but it isn't a great problem, because I'm walkin' very slow in this game...) and others...]

We should get some sort of (entirely offtopic) Haeleth forum meetup for all proud owners of DS' when the online games like Mario Kart or Animal Crossing come out later in the year.

As for what I've been spending my time playing... mostly TFC. Kinda sad when I think about it, but I'm basically just waiting for my new computer so I can finally install 98SE on something. (Yay 98SE, boo XP) Though, I've been watching lots more anime lately, Noir, Bleach, GTO... so I dunno, I guess you trade off every now and then. I still think I'm a 7 year old with 19 year old tastes at this point. (In that I still spend my time sunk in front of a TV or computer screen playing games or watching cartoons)

Meanwhile, after seeing the brand new scans of the Lion King and Nightmare Before Christmas worlds in KH2 (Told ya I can't wait for that game) and the new character in To Heart 2 X-Rated, I took a pic of my massive Mugen collection, which I've been building for, like, 2-3 years? Damn, I forgot.
