Since I'm not Japanese proficient, but I'm just wondering, in the Japanese rumor circles, are any of these works ever been mentioned?

Of course, if Key does answer fans wishes, I'd like Kyoto Animation to work for AIR, and Toei to work on a Planetarian movie. That would truely kick ass.

Rumours of a Clannad TV series have been making the rounds since the game came out, but it's only recently that they've been gaining currency, due to the increasing number of popular games (including Air) being converted into TV series and the game's PS2 release.

It's still too early to say how much truth there is to them, given how difficult it would be to convert a game of that size, but recent rumours (http://pie.bbspink.com/test/read.cgi/leaf/1106244979/) originating on the phase (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/moonphase/20050909) suggest that OLM (the same studio working on To Heart 2 and Utawarerumono) are producing it as we speak.

As for Kyo-Ani, I hear they have a 13 episode limit on anything they put out, so I doubt we'll be seeing them do something like Clannad anytime soon. On the bright side, we've still got Suzumiya Haruhi...

Anyone else find it strange that the same studio who does Pokemon does a bunch of eroge animes? :)

However many eroge makers also have back-brands of general game companies (Is it contrary?) so it wouldn't be too strange.

You know. The back brand of TGL of Farland series is 戯画(Giga) of Baldr Force and Dual Savoir. ;)

With the Kanon and Air TV series, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Clannad series too - kind of expected it at some point. Just wish I could play the game first, but alas, I doubt that will happen T_T

Doesn't OLM have many different "teams" of people? Like, Utawarerumono is done at Team Iwasa.

You're right on that one!

And zalas, seems so, now that I'm looking into it further, hehe.

something else that i think adds a little weight to the possibility of a clannad anime is the selection of a cast of seiyuu to voice the characters in the upcoming PS2 game. Unless there's hentai involved, the seiyuu they use will almost always be the seiyuu who will voice the characters in the anime, should it happen. But we've seen kanon and air animes so i really think a clannad anime is possible...

i wonder if it'll feature Tomoyo's 64 hit combo on Sunohara... ^^
