ok, so, as of now, there are a few translators interested, and ready to work on peace@pieces, but we are short on a hacker to open up the game for us. we need text extraction, as soon as possible would be preferred. please note, crass and whatever tools we have come across do not support this game. the file extension is .059, here's a pic of the directory:

any and all help greatly appreciated.

EDIT~ translators dead AGAIN. both translators went to work on yume nikki, so work is stalled even before it began... anyone want to work on the project, just say the word:.~

The .059 format is... well... horrible. First of all, it doesn't have a filenames, and the data format is not user-friendly. Here's the tool for partial data extraction written by someone from 4otaku.ru (not sure if the scripts are readable): http://www.mediafire.com/?88mnbe72uhxjo8y

As an extra, the structure of the archive is as follows:

- header -
5 bytes - magic word 'VAFSH'
11 bytes - random data, usually 0x32, unused
- file offset table (repeats) -
4 bytes - file offset
- uncompressed data -

As you can see, there's no filenames nor file sizes, not even the quantity of files. In order to get the number of files you'll have to subtract 0x16 from the first offset, then divide it by 0x4. Then, you'll have to check for the valid size of files and filter out empty\with incorrect offsets.

The archives are also viewable via AnimED, yet the image decoding is not (yet) supported, thus it's not much of use.

do you perhaps have the file? it's corrupted, dang mediafire~ can you possibly upload another as a rar file?

It wasn't corrupted, it was passworded. Was a pain to find out what the password was...
